Chevrolet Aveo/Kalos - Central locking failing - Justin Bateman

Hi guys,

My girlfriends Chevrolet/Kalos/2007 is having an odd central locking issue.

Essentially the car fails to unlock when using the key fob, although the alarm still arms (lights flash etc.), the lock does not disengage/engage. On occasion it will work, but more often than not only after the car has been running for a while.

She has also reported that the locking mechanism sounds sluggish, almost as if it's dying (on the occasions it does work), although there appear to be no issues with the main battery.

To add to this, just the other day I took the car for a drive and the locks were going nuts, engaging and disengaging as I drove!

- So far I have changed the key on the key fob, but that had no effect.

What is best to check next?

Is there a central lock switch that can be operated when sitting inside the car ? If there is , does the locking work ok from this?

I can push the plungers down on the doors and yes they then all work. So mechanically I believe all of the door locks themselves are working.

Also checked the fuse and that is fine

May be a fault with one of the front door lock electric actuators. You will need to strip off the door cards for inspection.
