A modest 11 years, since Dec.2008. Still going well, may need a battery some time soon, I'm hoping it will get through its 12th winter ....

'96 Merc coupe was bought in March 04, if we'd know how much it would cost to keep it fettled it would have been a Lexus or Camry, mind you it's now appreciating a little which yon Lexus wouldn't.

We owned a Mini Cluman estate from 1982 to 1995 (13 yrs) and a Peugeot 106 1.4D from 1995 to 2012. (17years).

Our Yaris D4D is still owned from 2005 to now ( 15 years) and Jazz 2012 to now (8 years)

My Volvo has been owned since August 2013. The MX5 was owned from 2004 til 2016 and again from 2018...

I have had my Vauxhall Astra since 2005. Only this last month have I stopped using it daily, only then because of a job change as I now have a company vehicle. Still has the original exhaust, original battery and scrubs up like new. Also never let me down. Would sell it apart from it is worth nothing but it is still like new condition. So for now it is getting a well earned rest in the garage and will come out once a month to keep it going.

Well, at the time of posting this comment I’ll take the lead with 19 years and one month.

August 1983 to September 2002.

But I’m sure I’ll soon be overtaken, there will surely be others that can claim much longer periods of ownership, particularly if they own a classic vehicle.

Sorry guys, but unless someone comes forward with far more than a 40yo car, then the winner is going to be John F with his TR7.

My Mazda3 is 'only' 14yo (owned from nwe and no MOT fails yet).

14yrs 6mths is the longest for me, spit with my dad. A 1987 D Renault Extra 1.4 Van. Lasted very well indeed and was still no real bother when it was offloaded for a new Renault Kangoo in 2000. Sadly rust had taken hold underneath and it ran on leaded fuel with additive which was quite dear and it wasn’t great on juice either. The replacement lasted only 6yrs.

I find that I’m often offered money on everything I run these days as I am not too bad at picking up good used motors. Current Toyota has a waiting list of names but it’s just too useful for now.

Thanks Andy. Even our X reg Focus, still in the family, pips most of this load of youngsters. And why is this thread in the technical section?
