Has anyone experience of this firm?

I am put off by the requirement to pay a "transaction fee" and same day payment will cost an additional £29.75!

I would not like to leave my car with any buyer without full cleared payment.

I've used them in the past a few times lately was in 2018 and payment was with me within 15 minutes. All really quick and simple.

I have sold 3 cars through WBAC and i can honestly say the experience was very good and I wouldnt hesitate to use them again.

I got the prices as promised online as all 3 cars were immaculate, but you would get hammered on price for the smallest of marks etc.

I did pay the £29.75 fee to get the dosh quickly and the whole process went very smoothly.

My experience is that they do indeed hammer you down for small marks eg chips. So work out what your car is worth, the minimum you will accept, and go from there. They went below my minimum, I told them that, and they agreed to raise their offer and match my minimum which was £100 higher than their original offer. Make sure you clean your car well.

We sold my father in law's car to them a couple of years ago when he had to give up driving. It was an immaculate Aygo but he had lost the service history due to his mental state so they offered a low, but not insulting, price. They tried to knock the price further on inspection but we pushed back and we settled close to the initial offer.

However it put me off following through on their £4.3k offer for my Civic last October and I took a lower trade-in offer instead as I suspected they'd chip away at their offer when it came to inspection.

As for the fees you pay for same day as they will be managing their cash and cashflow on a daily basis and will prefer to delay. Pay up or wait, Its your choice.

They're owned by BCA (British Car Auctions); I doubt your money's at any meaningful risk of non-payment.

The experience of friends and I is Evans Halshaw pay slightly more with no fees although I have also heard of good experiences with WBAC (although it seems to depend upon the branch you use).

Recently heard of a former colleague getting £300 more for a petrol Kia Sportage than WBAC quoted direct from Arnold Clark; the salesman stated it's a car they expect to move on very quickly (low mileage, high spec, good condition, 3 years old, full service history); if your car is a good seller and desirable might be work enquiring with Arnold Clark

They are reputable and I read that the cars go straight to auction, it’s basically a front for an auction house. You might get more privately, but it’s more hassle, and you need to be careful. A friend’s son advertised his car, and a visitor stole it! I got an okay price for my car.

I tried it with my last car and thought they were a complete waste of time and effort.

Gave me a provisional valuation of approx £1800 subject to inspection.

Car was 9 years old with 130k on the clock. I would honestly describe it as good but not immaculate condition - what car of this age/mileage would be.

Man went round the car with clipboard in hand and came up with £900 of rectification work - a complete travesty.

I would not contemplate wasteing my time with them again - just did a simple trade in for £1600!

Hi Folks

I have also recently had a bad experience with them. I was selling a 59 plate Jimny with a view to buying a 63 plate Rav4 from Toyota dealer. WBAC made me an online provisional offer of £4000 subject to inspection. Following the inspection they reduced the offer to £3200 because of some really very minor bodywork scuffs. In view of this I decided to simply part-ex the car. The Toyota dealer gave me £4050 for it!

In my case I got a good discount on my new car and the trade in offer for the old one was £1,000 compared to £1,800 from WBAC. You do need to look at the total package from the dealer and get a price without trade in too.

Neither would I. Got a valuation for our Xreg less-than-immaculate Focus. £390 minus the £50 transaction fee. So we gave it to a car-less son.

They’re competitive with stock which is retail ready. If you’ve a nice 5yr old car with a full history which needs no paint then they’ll offer decent money but an 18yr old Ford Focus is not something any dealer wants to buy in and is thus worthless to them even if you know it to be still serviceable. I’ve sold cars to them before, one was a fairly newish First Fiesta 1.0 Titanium I sourced for a relative who then decided for some stupid reason she no longer wanted (well before the engine issues were known) and they offered £10,200 for a car she paid £11,000 as an approved used Ford a few months before. I couldn’t see how they’d earn from that and it was more than I could ever hope to get selling it myself.

I used them once when selling my BMW and found their service excellent.
Didn’t chip on the price and even waved all the fees.
Gave me £1800 more than local BMW dealer offered in px.

After my dad passed away we sold his 10-month old Fabia to WBAC. We got a good price with no quibbles, money in my mum's account next day.

Sold my sister in laws Yaris Hybrid. Little trouble but as she has dementia I'd to produce more I D and prove I could sell the car. Got a fair price for a car with several less than perfect repairs.

My stepson sold a lightly-damaged Audi to WBAC last year and was well pleased with what he got.

When I value my Mazda CX-5 with them I get a lower offer than with Motorway, where specialist dealers seem to price it higher. But of course I've no idea what I'd get in real life, though it is immaculate, FSH and newish tyres, so maybe close to what's offered.

Has anybody used the new additional services which provide a comparison of available wbac prices?

Car sold to a Suzuki main dealer for a good price.

I did not feel comfortable with walking away from WBAC without payment.
