toyota corolla verso 2L DIESEL - engine flooding - strickjumpers

Hello,

looking at a 10 plate verso which is a non runner, apparently been diagnosed at Toyota as major fuel leak and seller says been told injectors stuck in open position,

seems odd all doing this and i thought it was more like a signal from ecu causing all.

anyone know any history of this kind of defect, i do not have the p code associated with the fault.

thanks, mike.

Never heard of that. If the injectors were stuck open, very unlikely that they all are, it would could the fuel line pressure to drop to a point that it would stop injecting. What are the exact symptoms?

All injectors stuck open ? Don’t think so . More like the engine has had diesel runaway and smashed the pintles off the injectors . I think I would walk on by with this . Could be major engine failure.

thanks for that, sounds like good advice, would pulling a single injector if free reveal the complete story or need to do all /

for my educarion, please what is diesel runaway and where can i find out about it? thanks, Mike.

I’m looking at this as a worst case scenario. It’s possible they mean the injectors have excess leak off , and this would create a non start condition. If it needs 4 injectors, then this could be a four figure repair bill. Diesel runaway is where the engine will rev uncontrollably on its own engine oil diesel mix where dpf regeneration has not been completed and fuel used increases oil level .

would that be just injectors or could the puistons be burned or engine oversped or overtorqued.

i can fit refurbrished injectors at 500 quid the lot but if previous incident occurred could it have wrecked the engine in the long term,?mike.

You would need to get a compression test done to get any further. If it has over revved , then possibly bent valves or con rods could be a result .

Have a vague memory of hearing about something like this.

IF (BIG IF) IR the case correctly fuel leakage at a single injector caused excessive fuel dilution of the sump oil.

I don't remember runaway being mentioned in that case, but its clearly a possible consequence of fuel dilution, and/or stuck piston rings.,

Fuel dilution alone wouldn't stop it running, though, so something else is off in your case.

I believe that production of the Corolla Verso ended in March 2009 - so if it is on a "10" registration there is something funny going on (unless of course it is a Verso and not a Corolla Verso)

Run for the hills!

Goodness knows what state the DPF will be in now as well - never mind engine /turbo.
