Vauxhall Meriva 59 - Spare Key - Victoria Thorpe

Hi, I would like to get a spare key cut for my friend so she could have access to my car. I was looking at having just the blade cut with no electronics. Would this set the alarm off every time it was opened? She doesn't need to drive the car, just be able to put stuff in and out.

Thanks

Probably yes . You need the remote key to switch off the alarm . A basic key will certainly open the door ,

If the OP locks the car with the key not the remote, then unlocking it should not set the alarm off I would guess. That was the case with my 08 Mondeo which is of similar vintage

Getting a key cut probably wouldn't cost very much to find out. Your car will be unalarmed, a) whenwas the last time you heard an alarm, and b) subsequently did anything about it

No alarm? your insurer might not like that.
