New Nissan Juke vs. New Renault Capture. - Basically The Same Car. Very Different Reviews - Zippy123

Seem the Renault has been praised whilst the Nissan appears to have been "damned with faint praise".

Can two versions of what is effectively the same car be so different or does packaging really make that much of a difference?

New Nissan Juke vs. New Renault Captur - Basically The Same Car. Very Different Reviews - Avant

Yes, I think they can be different despite being built on the same platform. Particularly as the cars tested had different powertrains. The Capturs were a 1.3 130bhp manual and a 155 bhp automatic, whereas the Juke tested was a 1.0 115 bhp automatic.

The original Juke sold well alongside the Qashqai, both very much in the vanguard of the move towards SUVs. Now there are lots (Auto Express have just done a feature this week listing 130 current SUVs) and I suspect that the new Juke is going to struggle to sell well.

The Captur is likely to appeal to more people. It looks better both outside and in, and there's a better choice of engines, with a hybrid on the way.

Can make a big difference. I remember the Honda Concerto / Rover 200/400 series 89-95 years. Basically the same car but with different trim and suspension settings they could feel very different, even if they had the same 1.6 Honda engine.

Captur hybrid is on our radar at the moment.

Not sure what you are reading into those reviews that i'm not(?), but i certainly wouldn't call them, 'very different' .

The main problem the reviewer has with the Juke seems to be the combination of 1.0 engine mated to the dual clutch auto. Other than that, barring wind noise, and a firm ride on the big wheels (which, according to the review, the Captur doesn't suffer from), he seems to like the Juke well enough and doesn't seem to have any problem with that engine and the 6 speed manual.
