toyota gt86 - Driving With Loud Music? - Patty Seide

Since childhood, I am afraid of driving vehicle with loud music because I am witness of my cousin's terrible accident. Now, as a mother of grown up girl who recently passed her driving test, I am scared if she uses loud music. Whenever, I talk with her said, mom, I only go claim music not the loud and fast tracks but as a mother, I know her love for fast and loud songs.

I am not saying I am against the use of music while driving but as I love her a lot so I don't want to take any risk. My daughter is going to install an android stereo system in the vehicle so I am willing to get the one which would keep me alert about her location and her choice of music and volume etc. I found stereo reviews here xxxx and willing to get the one that have some tracking features and shares it with me. I can also use any app etc in this regard. So, you can suggest me any app as well but only the android ones.

According to my husband, we can't restrict our girl for small things and shared this story with me xxxx but I am prefer to go with any prevention to avoid any big problem.

On the other hand, if you think I should go with any customized speakers or other audio systems then you can also share your views. I am not expert in these things but sure, I will consider your advice in serious manner.

Your suggestions and pieces of advice would also be good in this regard.

My advice is not to post links on here unless they are from a recognisable source. People might - just - think you are posting spam.

This OP has my spam-O-meter dinging away, especially as it looks like from their language that they are either US-based and/or think this website is the .com version, which has nothing to do with our Honest John and this website (.co.uk).

I'm getting the same vibe as some recent spam threads in the General section. Besides, if the OP is US-based, it would be far better for them to discuss what ICE her daughter's car can have with locals (and there are LOADS of US-based motoring forums, often specifically for cars like the GT86/BRZ), given they'll know what's on the market locally, which often differs from what we can get in the UK.

As an old fogey, I would stress the need for drivers to be able to hear, as well as see, what is going on around them. Otherwise any other car's horn will likely be a useless warning, never mind the approach of an emergency vehicle. If your daughter is thinking of using earphones, that at least would prevent nearby people sharing her like (or dislike) for loud music, but will not address the need to hear.

If she is really trying to shut out the rest of the world while driving, that is not a safe way to proceed.

Ideally need to be able to hear when driving otherwise you're going to miss important cues. They may be vehicle horns, emergency vehicles, a motor cycle or a mechanical problem with your car. If you suffer from poor hearing or are deaf then there are ways to mitigate for that risk, for example by improved observation and deafness is not a bar to driving.

Unfortunately some youngsters seriously impair their ability to catch audio cues by playing music loud and/or wearing headphones. Parents and others can offer guidance but as the old saying goes you can lead a horse to water but not make it drink.

Not clear from OP whether she is in UK (use of Mom may be straw in wind indicator of poster in North America). In UK authorities can probably charge offences either for driving offences (not in full control?) or environmental laws around excess noise.

In my experience the volume of music being played is in inverse proportion to the IQ and skill of the driver.

Only for this reason I added the link above to get suggestion about a stereo but I don't know what's your standards of spamming.

I don't understand "standards of spamming". Surely something is either spam and unwelcome, or it is not spam.

FP, the wording may be inexact, but I think the intended meaning is pretty clear?

Knuckle dragging appalling driver here.

Yes i do have some music loud, especially Alice Cooper's older album stuff...ignore the hits you will have heard many times they are not in any way representative of this artist...but loud music has its place..the car must a have a decent sound system so the music is rich and not some garish racket.

There comes a time when your children have to be allowed to make their own mistakes and learn from them just as we and the generations who went before us did.

Because you are making an issue of this, it's possibly causing the daughter to want to do it more, the car is her own space, presumably she lives with you still so unless she uses headphones at home the car is her only self governed place to do what she wants when she wants without affecting or having comments from others.
