Ford Focus - ford focus instrument cluster 09 - Kev61

I have a 09 focus

The center part of the cluster that shows the mileage has gone completely blank and nothing at all lights up,could it be a fuse and if so what number might it be.

Thank you for any help

Common fault

Some people say spraying the back of the module with WD40 works

Yes, very likely to be a instrument cluster fault, but you might want to do a battery reset (disconnect battery for 5 mins) first . Forget the idea of spraying anything on the back of the pod, there is no access to any circuit board on models made after 2005 .

Yes you will . Not a problem if you don't have the code . Plenty of forum members here will be able to supply the correct code if necessary.

This is a common issue my 2010 focus had similar glitches with the cluster for a while before it failed completely. The car cut out while driving and went totally dead nothing. The aa man got it going by hitting the dashboard and the car ran like nothing had happened. My local ford specialist sent it away for repair it cost £200. My understanding is that the lead free solder they use now cracks with age and causes issues.
