The passing of a legend. audi quattro.......Porsche 917.....audi R10....

He was annoyed by MB's extension into his mass market of smaller cars so he commissioned his engineers to challenge the S class and build the best saloon car in the world - the 12 cylinder 4WD Phaeton. I get much pleasure from driving its all aluminium descendant (A8 W12)

I loved the Phaeton, it was the first blue collar luxury car but of course it made absolutely no financial sense for VW or new buyers. It was only there as a brand uplift model and was only viable as it shared much with new Bentley and Audi models that were jointly developed. Lovely big cars and brilliant used buys at the right money.
