I feel sure it's your car insurance you would claim off

If the branch fell on someone else's car, you'd only be liable if you'd been negligent. Such as if you'd been aware that a branch was dying.

When my neighbour's tree was clearly dying, I wrote to him. When it later came down, he had to pay for the fence repair. Had I not written to him, I may have had to pay (it was my fence).
