I have to use this technology daily as its fitted to all of our latest lorries, some makes are more sensitive than others with these things.
You have to modify your driving to take into account the electronics in use, you may know very well you are going to safely slalom around a parked car a bollard and an errant rubbish bin, but the system does not know that, and unless you let the system know by braking slightly as the pinch point approaches, it will take over and apply the brakes for you, tough luck the chap behind eh.
I don't like it one bit, and for vast majority of us these types of systems are not necessary, but we live in a one size fits all and all must be winners dumbed down society where because the few are incapable of performing a simple task, the rest of us must be assumed to be equally as hopeless, lowest common denominator applies, hence the more and more safety systems that are being rolled out...of course there is an ulterior motive involved here, in that autonomous systems are being tested and trialled by us hapless punters, and gratefully paying for the pleasure of being their unrewarded test pilots.
Not to worry the next generation of lorries (cars already heading there) are going to interfere with the steering when the system doesn't like the information the lane departure system tells it, what could possibly go wrong?
Me?, i'll stick with my trusty older Japanese vehicles, designed and built before the west went completely round the bend.
