Yellow paint splatter on car. How to remove? - lucasmeister

Hello all.

Today I've found a yellow and silver paint splatter on my car bonnet.

I have no idea where it's come from. There has been roadworks for a while outside of my work, however I'm unsure how the paint would have ended up on my car.

I've tried removing with my fingernails, but unfortunately it won't budge.

Any ideas? I've attached some photos below.

Tricky one that, you could try lighter fluid but if that is road marking paint then it will be well stuck and has probably damaged the underlying paint..

gentle heat ( hairdryer) may soften it enough but I do fear that will need 're spraying.

May be worth contacting the company doing the road works, that's b***** naughty of them.

Clay bar and plenty of water.

Methylated spirit might do it and shouldn't harm the paint, but I would try it on an inconspicuous area first.

Whichever solvent you use, make sure you immediately give it a thorough clean with plenty of warm soapy water after.

The house next door was rented out for some 20+ years. About 19 years ago the lunatic bought a wreck of a caravan to be pulled by his wreck of a Pajero (fitting description of him!)

He decided to spray the pull bar of the caravan with tins of aluminium spray paint.

I was out, it was a windy day & my 2/3 year old Xedos was covered by spray on the bonnet, front wing & driver's door. Bigger bits were removed by my thumb nail, the rest was removed with methylated spirits & paint restorer by Autoglym & gently rubbing with a fine cloth - about 2 hours work. The car was washed with lots of soapy water - applied Mer- it rubbed up perfectly.

The neighbour denied it was anything to do with him. A few years later his Father-in-law's rotting MB was next for his spraying skills on a windy day - I marched out & told him he would be responsible for any paint mist on my cars & it would be professionally valeted at his expense even if this meant Small Claims Court! He backed down & went elsewhere.

Mer! Not heard that name in years!

>>Mer! Not heard that name in years!

I did say the incidents were in the past.

That said, my neighbour, who washes his car at least 2 x per week still uses MER. Polishes his car about 6-8 times per year, hoovers 1 x per week.

He must have bought the warehouse clearance.
