The French prime minister Edouard Phillipe has now climbed off of his high horse on the subject of the recently imposed highly unpopular national two-way road 80 kph limit, having previously adopted the usual politician's "I know best" attitude when the limit was reduced from 90 to 80 kph.

Individual departments will now have the option of deciding which limit will apply to their roads. Therefore leading to even more confusion as to which limit will apply wherever you happen to be travelling in France.
