1988 Ford Fiesta XR2 - Mk2 xr2 not sparking - XR2 fan
I replaced the ignition module the other day and now get a spark when I first turn then key to the on position, however when I crank the engine there is still no spark at all. Before that I had no spark at all.
So far I have replaced:
Spark plugs
HT leads
Distributor rotor arm
Distributor cap
Coil
Ignition module.
Any suggestions on what to try next.
Thanks in advance.

Is the distributor turning when the engine is cranked over?

I think the XR2 has a hall effect sensor in the distributor as well which could be faulty- time nums details such as this though!

Engine turns over when turn key, not generating a spark at this point other than the initial one when power turned on.

Is there any way of ruling out the immobiliser without taking out the alarm system? There’s a key to the alarm box that I can switch off but I don’t know for certain if this is disabling the immobiliser or just turning off the speaker.

Did you check if the rotor arm is turning when cranking over with the starter?
