Dacia Sandero Stepway - Dacia Sandero stepway automatically locks all door - Bob McGarry

My Stepway automatically locks all the doors within seconds of me getting in the car.

I would rather make that choice myself and wonder if anyone knows if there is some way to disable this feature ? Cant seem to find it in the handbook.

Why does it bother you?. It isn't like you are locked in, as soon as you pull on the door handle, it unlocks. Although our current car, a Jazz, doesn't (seem to) have this feature, the previous two (Vauxhall Meriva, Hyundai i30) did, and we found no problem with it. BTW, if you are involved in an accident in which the airbags are triggered, it will automatically unlock.

With the engine running (or ignition on) try pressing and holding the central locking button for 5 seconds or so. It’ll hopefully beep and will have disabled the auto locking.

luckily for you that you have never had a person open the car door whilst stationary roadside ... the wife's hand bag, passport, credit cards, cash, mobile etc etc all gone in an instant, worse still the thief could have attacked my wife, very lucky indeed they didn't. My car has auto locking doors and I love it.

My wife was picking me up at an agreed place one day. As I was walking there, I saw her in a queue of traffic, I opened the passenger door and sat down. She still doesn't know how she didn't ram the car in font. She now always locks the doors as soon as she get in.

Be careful what you wish for!

My Accord has a similar feature, if you press the unlock button on the remote just once, it will re-lock the car after about 30 seconds, if you press it twice it stays unlocked.
