Is this right time to buy a Saab 93? - Theflyingpostman

I have owned a lots of Fiat 1.9 engine in the past I know well how to maintenance the engine, cambelt change and etc.

I felt like to buy my first Saab 93 1.9 120 or 150 because it have Fiat engine but I was not really sure if I should purchase the car because I was think before about the shortage of parts the Saab factory was gone bust in 2011.

I was wonder if it would be a possible to find parts like the suspension system for a example wishbone, spring, Brake system calliper, servo, and the steering system rack and etc in the next 10 years.

I was think of to buy and keep for the least 10 years

what you think?

Between Fiat and Vauxhall, you'll be able to get all mechanical parts - body trim parts could be harder to source

I think maybe a Saab forum may be the best place to ask regarding the specific Saab parts. As RT says, there shouldn't be too much difficulty getting mechanical parts. Though bear in mind, with the anti-diesel sentiment (rightly or wrongly), you may have to stop driving it before those 10 years are up, even if the car does last that long.

But i suppose the upside is that they are so cheap it isn't going to be too much of a financial burden should you have to bin the car in a few years time!.

Mechanical bits shouldn’t be a problem but trim, body panels and some electronics are already in short supply. The Diesel engines are unloved as they’re prone to plenty of problems as they age and the diesel rattle doesn’t suit the car but I believe a well kept petrol will start to creep up in value as numbers dwindle. The Saab convertible was an icon and good examples with the easier to maintain, more robust petrol motors will be classics soon.

These guys should keep you going for most parts...I used them when I had my 9-3 Auto "vert" a few years back...lovely car to drive and SO comfortable....but they are not without their issues so homework is necessary.
