FIAT 500 - Errors on the display - Red_Alert

Hi my daughters Fiat 500 runs fine and is still in use on local trips but it suddenly had the following messages and lights appear on the clock - this was her message to me:

start stop unavailable, fuel cut off unavailable, start stop light on (and amber exclamation mark in triangle light on too), red airbag light on, red passenger airbag light on, red seatbelt light on

Any suggestions?

Start with Low battery voltage, especially if it does mainly short trips. Take it on a 20-30 mile higher speed run.

A low/poor condition battery will cause the s/start system to malfunction. The airbag fault light could be a different problem. I would get the diagnostic system tested.

New battery time - had all sort pop up on our Panda (similar electrical and oily bits to the 500) when the battery was on it's way out.

Next will be probably the power steering showing a fault!

PS Fit the correct one as stop/start cars generally use beefed up EFB and AGM batteries

Get the diagnostic codes read - either DIY if you have the equipment, a dealer or a GOOD workshop.

I replaced the battery two weeks ago with the correct one for stop/start. I removed and cleaned the earth straps this morning. I have checked for error codes this morning using a basic OBD reader and no codes are detected related to the problem (It did have a code for a misfire on cylinder 2 which I cleared) It looks like a trip to the dealers next :-(

Basic obd reader is useless for faults like these. Take it to a garage with suitable diagnostic kit.
