Yes, it is, and it did. But many people think the govt is bound to implement the result. It (or some of it) has been trying to agree on a Brexit agreement ever since. My point is that our worst possible 'betrayal' would be to continue regardless with Brexit if a majority now feel it is a bad idea (as seems to be the case). By deliberately NOT asking the question the country, all of us, may well suffer as a consequence.
And if a referendum result can never be reversed, perhaps we should stand by the result of the 1970s one which took us in in the first place?
