... almost as quick as the Senior Railcard folk in Arbroath. I've never known an organization so supremely efficient as them – 36-hrs tops from online renewal to arrival on your doormat! ...

Top left with UK and Euro stars or UK and something else?

Controversial!!

I’ll be ‘losing’ mine and applying for a new one as soon as (if?) we get our independence.

And when we do leave the EU, a squadron of highly trained pigs will perform an aerobatics display over Buck House. We’re led by ~650 weasels most of whom voted Remain, who don’t have the balls to openly say they will not let us leave, but are ensuring we do not leave.

I agree that it is an omnishambles. But I would ask why fanatical leavers insist that the country should get what it thought it wanted 3 years ago, but don't 'have the balls' to have another vote to confirm that (rather tight) decision? Running scared?

That's the logic of - don't like the decision, let's vote again.

A referendum is meant to guide parliament, not vote on each single decision - the fundamental problem is that the two main options are diametrically opposed with no practical compromise - after all, a soft Brexit is Remain without any rights or veto so a bad result for both Leave and Remain.

<< A referendum is meant to guide parliament, not vote on each single decision >>

Yes, it is, and it did. But many people think the govt is bound to implement the result. It (or some of it) has been trying to agree on a Brexit agreement ever since. My point is that our worst possible 'betrayal' would be to continue regardless with Brexit if a majority now feel it is a bad idea (as seems to be the case). By deliberately NOT asking the question the country, all of us, may well suffer as a consequence.

And if a referendum result can never be reversed, perhaps we should stand by the result of the 1970s one which took us in in the first place?

This isn't a thread to debate Brexit

As a proud European i was a bit annoyed to find the racist xenophobes (Tories)had decided to put the Union Flag on my new licence last December.

Luckily i renewed my passport at the same time and its still burgundy without Unicorns.

On the plus side they both came through very quickly.

Brendan Behan said that when Southern Ireland became Eire his granny's comment was that she didn't care whether her eviction notice had a crown at the top or a harp. It was still an eviction notice.

I tried to replace my old paper one online using my recent passport - went through all the process, they took the money and then a few days later told me my passport was invalid.

Rang them and made sure all the details were correct but they were adamant and said the only way to proceed was to send them my passport. As their reputation for losing things is renowned I cancelled and asked for a refund, for which I'm still waiting. And this is the second time I've tried to do this in a few years, so its good to know the dvla can still be useless sometimes...

I'm certainly glad DVLA can do swift in straightforward cases - unlike the 10 months it took me to get my 6-month medical suspension lifted!

Someone will undoubtedly say otherwise, but on every occasion over the past 40 years that i have dealt with DVLA and their local office predecessors, and I have given correct documentation, my query has been dealt with rapidly, be it a change of vehicle, licence, renewal of a licence after a medical query .

Yes every time!
