Having driven most SUVs on long term rentals ie more than 3 months at a time there is a dark horse that I have come to prefer.
About the rest though
RAV4-horrible to drive with a wallowy front end
Qashqai-lifeless steering comparable to steering an underpowered boat.
Subaru Forester-Although there is much talk about the low centre of gravity and driving comfort + control etc, it was mostly underwhelming, but still better than the RAV4 and Qashqai.
Kia Sportage-with the petrol engine, an absolute cracker and will not loose the traffic lights quick start race.
Mitsubishi Outlander-with the 2+ litre petrol engine.Easy to drive, feels much narrower than the others hence easier to drive , but exceptionally responsive and can literally throw it into a corner as one does with saloons yet comes through with minimal body roll.
Top marks for the Outlander then the Sportage.
