Kia Rio - NO SERVICE HISTORY - Raymondofox
Hi there, looking to buy a Kia Rio from a renowned saleroom. All good but the car has no service history. It has had two previous owners and has 25,000 miles on clock. What is the best course of action? Should this car be swerved? Should I demand cash off? Get them to fully service car? Or would a pre-purchase inspection from a mechanic of my choice suffice? I’ve been stung before buying a used car so being very careful this time! Any advice would be much appreciated.
Cheers, Dave

Simple, don't buy the car. I'm assuming with that mileage, the car isn't very old, which means it had a 7 year manufacturers warranty when new. But this will only be valid if you have a proper Kia service history. Don't get me wrong, they are reliable cars, but at the same time, they are not hard to find. So forget this one and find one with history.

No service book? You checked Kia dealer database.

With no history you can’t even guarantee the mileage.

Check with the service dept of your local Kia dealer to see if they’ve any record online or better yet call the supplying dealer, the name is bound to be on the no plates or on a tail sticker. Don’t accept any excuses, the 7yr warranty is void if it doesn’t have a full main dealer history.

Lazy salesman does not bother to do quick check,

Inexcusable.

Imagine when something goes wrong, what will their attitude be?

Run away.
