The car has been possessed ,it increases its revs upto 3000 all by itself,and then dies down again,any clues other than an exorcism.Its been on diagnostics machine and inlet manifold gasket changed,still no good. T.I.A

It might help if you state make and model of car. Have you tried cleaning the throttle body?
