I have a question regarding No Claims Discount. My frustration comes from the way different insurance companies record/report NCD, and how to report it to a new company when you purchase insurance.
I've been driving 20+ years and have never had an at-fault claim (other than a cracked windscreen), always had NCD protection since I was old enough to be offered it.
When you go to renew (eg online), some companies have an exact drop-down box for 1-infinity years of NCD, other have 1-9+ (not being bothered how much more than 9 you have). The problem comes when you get your renewal and they all seem to report your NCD differently, or with no consistency at least.
So basically somewhere along the line with all the different methods, it's not been recorded EXACTLY how many years NCD I have, and as a result I am now only able to prove "9 years or more", despite having driven for 20+ years and not claiming anything.
So basically, if I apply for insurance can I state 20+years? How far will they dig into it? I know the "or more" is the key phrase, but if I could only prove say 11 years to my previous insurers (and they recorded as 9+) would it be problem to say 20+
Thanks
