Hyundai i10 - grrrrrrr noise - blindspot

2009 automatic 72000miles, noise starts when I boot the gas down from a standing start. comes from bulkhead low down central area. gearbox fluid looks ok and box works as it should. at first, the noise stopped when slipped into neutral but now it's just the same. makes noise when stationary and moving, gets a bit worse as revs rise. driven gently its all ok for a few hours.

now of the opinion its an alternator bearing, that's a first for me

When I get a grrrrrr noise as I "boot the gas down" - the noise usually comes from around the passenger seat. For some reason it doesn't happen when driving on my own!!

cheers, hope to get a proper look at it this weekend, Haynes manual should arrive tomorrow. always found water pump noise associated with a drip.

Hmm.

Re pump failure - I've had pumps drip water that were quiet and i've also had noisy pumps that didn't drip water (Various cars over the years!).

after spending Saturday changing brakes,. sunday was for changing alternator.

what a job you can get it off but not out, remove water bottle refer to remove front bumper refer to remove booth headlights, remove the front panel.

once it was off, it felt ok, no roughness or looseness. lots of iron filings in cover.

any how that seems ok now
