Purchased via them previously.

Over the past 9 months asked for various quotes on 4 different models and not once they came close to other broker or dealer prices.

Today’s email from them regarding ‘Black Friday deals’ are not deals at all, far bigger discounts elsewhere.

Which begs the question? What went wrong? Did they put up the fees they charge dealers? Too much focus on the website content and not actual deals?

I know when I purchased via them in 2016 their fee was £300 to a dealer, I think autoebid charge dealers £200.

When we bought the Superb and Fabia as well as our usual favourite Carfile we tried CarWow but since Carfile was slightly cheaper it was a done deal. Not much in it, only tens of pounds but with Carfile at least you have a single person should you need to query anything and he (Jonathan) also rings you up to check details before passing them onto the dealer. At CarWow its simply impersonal e-mails and the dealers phone number.

When we bought the Fabia I was sat at the salesmans desk (the Carfile dealer is close enough to sort out details in person rather than over the phone) I picked up on the fact that they also did CarWow, the salesman next to the one I had been dealing with via Carfile did the CarWow deals. I asked about Carwow and obviously to salesman did not enter into details other than they did more Carfile deals over a year.

Considering CarWow is advertised much more aggressively on the TV etc that quite surprised me.

I used Carwow in June to help me achieve a very good deal from my local dealer. Two grand difference between first offer and, after referring to best price through Carwow, the price we eventually agreed on. They were the most competetive broker I looked at. Carfile do not offer prices on Honda.

Simple rule with brokers, only use one that takes no money whatsoever, not even a deposit. Carfile, Carwow, Drive the Deal all work like this as do Broadspeed but they charge a £200 introduction fee that needs taking into account in the final figure.

If a deal looks too good to be true there is normally a good reason.
