'Notable exceptions'
Poor customer service from Nissan - especially about the hire car insurance excess amount.
I won't be buying a new Nissan then.

The issue with Nissan is that although their cars are built in the UK, they do not hold any spare components. All parts are ordered specific to the cars being built. Any additional items are sourced via Nissan Japan and are on a long lead-time.
I encounter a similar situation with a component for the air condition unit of my LEAF after I had an accident. Again, the issue was compounded as the LEAF was being phased out and the manufacturing plant was transitioning over to the new version.
All in all, it took nearly 5 months for the last part to be sourced and my car fully repaired. Due to the long lead-time, they were potentially going to "cannibalise" one of their demo cars to source the part (and then replace this when the spare arrived), but luckily this didn't need to happen.
All I can suggest is to keep in contact with your case worker at Nissan Customer Services and if necessary ask them to source a spare from an "unused" Nissan Note - I am sure that they have cars which they can scavenge for parts.

Why have Nissan withdrawn the new note so quickly from the uk considering the old was was popular. Sounds suspiciously like they’re expecting big trouble with it. Not very good for all those who bought new , trade in values will plummet.

Nothing seriously wrong with the old Note, it's just that the new Micra effectively took its place size and cost wise and there is no point having two cars in your line up that compete with each other.

Nobody’s perfect
You need to distinguish between faults and issues that arise from normal wear and tear. There is a reason why this is called an "Agony Column". Crucial reading though it is - and buying advice apart - you will only hear from people with problems. You'll never hear from the very many who are happy with their cars.
The same with any motoring forum. A few years ago, whilst I had a Caterham 7, I frightened myself by reading on their forum all the things that would go wrong with my car. They never did. Now, with a perfectly-behaved Morgan I refuse to read the Morgan forum. Result? Happy motoring.

In the same way that dog doesn't bite man isn't news?

Van Man Scam.
Had something similar happen to me; WVM clashed wing mirrors and claimed I had smashed his to pieces.
(It was an obvious swerve as he completely failed to hit the much wider bus I was following).
I refused to accept the blame, at which point he started blustering about being a retired copper and getting me "done"; so I visited his premises, got out my trusty tape measure and figured out he had hit the tiny plastic wide view add-on mirror, and not my main wing mirror, and also photographed the white masonry paint in the scrapes on his busted mirror.
At this point I told him to go forth and multiple.
Never heard from him again.

Busman’s Holiday:
The standard car licence (category B) allows you to drive vehicles with up to eight *passenger* seats, i.e. nine seats including the driver. That covers the likes of the Ford Tourneo.

Doesn’t explain why Nissan brought out new note knowing they had Micra too. Also they are selling it elsewhere.
