Citroen C3 - Trouble starting and resetting date/time - martiaaz

I have just purchased a second hand Citroen C3, 5dr VTR+ 61 plate and I am now experiencing problems when I start it. It's almost as if it momentarily disconnects from the battery, and it then starts, but my time and date have reset and my windscreen wipers go up and down just for one cycle and then it automatically locks the doors.

It's under warranty for 3 months so want to take it back to them and explain the problem, but don't want to be fobbed off due to not knowing about cars, and was hoping someone would know what the problem is likely to be before I take it back.

Sounds like your battery is in trouble.

You actually have 6 months warranty if you purchased the car from a dealer or trader which means you should take the car back within this time and they are obliged to repair it. If you've had the car for less than 30 days you have even more rights. You can even reject the car for a full refund if any repairs prove unsuccessful. So get the car back to them ASAP. If you bought privately I'm afraid you don't have much of a leg to stand on.

Thank you, I bought it from Evans Halshaw only a week ago, so will get it back there ASAP.

Before ditching the battery, try remaking its connections, which may have developed poor contacts.

Hope I don't spoil your day but if you search either this site or you tube etc for C3 or 207 electrical problems you will find a lot of issues with the fuse box / module connections. particularly the plug marked marron. Consensus seems to be moisture entering these components via a capillary action fed by the exterior of the windscreen washer tube.

Thank you. That's not what I wanted to hear, but not a lot I can do about it now. It has today come up with an engine fault, so I'm calling the dealer tomorrow and asking them to sort it! Fingers crossed!
