Interesting! I have yet to see a burnt-out 5-series by the side of the road, but in the space of a couple of months last year, I saw two VW Passat CCs on the hard shoulder, both burnt out ahead of the windscreen. I couldn't see whether they were diesel or petrol, however.

Seems underbonnet fire extinguisher systems should be included as standard on current BMW's with the 2.0 diesel engines. Lke the US (re VW diesel emissions scandal) and unlike the UK, South Korea take this kind of thing seriously, and in favour of their people.

Reminded me of a recent post on another thread from someone driving a 5 series BMW with the 2.0 diesel engine, what was it?, oh yes:

Indeed!, i'll take an 'underpowered, thirsty, drab Japanese box car' thanks.

When DPF regeneration is taking place in my 2.0 diesel BMW the system does get extremely hot. Not really suitable for driving around the streets of South Korean cities at crawl speed then. But I didn't buy one to drive around cities in it.
