I have just brought a 2007 VW Toureg 2.5 diesel and am haveing a few issues , there seems to be an intermittent power issue. Sometimes when going up hill or pulling out of a junction the car has no power and despite kicking down on the auto box still has no pull,
I am also having an issue with the ESP Light coming on on the dash and will not switch off this seems to be within about 20 min of any journey
After about 45 min driving the display which shows the auto box position and gear reading goes blank with a red box around p,r,n,d,s
Also have an issue with cold starts and taking a long time to start
Any help or advice would be very much appreciated, thank you

How long ago is 'just bought' ?

Was it bought from a garage, auction, or as a private sale ?

To start with, get the battery tested properly. If it's having difficulty cold starting in the middle of summer, then the battery may well be knackered.

With any luck, if it is the battery, then changing that may well lead to lots of other faults vanishing - modern cars don't like weak batteries, and tend to throw up lots of weird faults.

If the battery is fine, on the other hand, then you may well have a lot of expense in front of you. Injectors for the starting, Teves ESP fault requiring a rebuild of the ABS unit, gearbox fluid change or even rebuild ...

Or just get shot of it

My experience of 10 year old models of these,especially with the 2.5 engine,is not good.They suffer numerous engine faults and also various electrical gremlins caused by poor/corroded wiring from water ingress.Lift the passenger front carpetand sound insulation,forwards of the battery compartment and check for dampness.If a new battery fixes this ,you have had a result.However,I have my doubts.

Is it possible to post pictures on here I have found several vacuum pipes that seem to be disconnected can anyone provide a schematic of the vacuum plan please

I forgot to mention if I pull Over stop the engine and start it again the problems seem to reset I can’t be sure that works with the power issue thou that resets the esp and gearbox

After the battery is checked you made need good VW specialist to plug in the diagnostics and see what is going on. Where are you?

Has anyone got a 2007 2.5 VW Tiguan that they could send me a few pics of inside the engine bay please I need to check the vacuum hose configuration on mine as it believed that it has been put together wrong from a previous fix (not done by myself, previous owner)
