I've just been about to do some Ford Radio Codes for HJ members and have discovered that the "Puma People" Code Generator which everyone uses on here to generate codes has now been changed!

To obtain a code for a given serial number now involves a 20 minute wait. To obtain a code immediately requires a payment of £1.99.

I believe that, currently, only Forum Member Elekie has an alternative method of generating Radio Codes.

This isn't good news!

Allow me to elaborate. It's rather worse than you say.

The first request to Puma People makes you wait for 20 minutes; the second for 40 minutes and so on. The only way I could reset the clock to 20 minutes was to delete cookies and adjust my VPN to a different location.

Elekie can do V codes (and M codes?), but I have a code generator for M codes which seems to work reliably. I've used it several times in the Technical forum and will continue to do so, if people are happy with that.

Yes,I have just noticed this today. I can do M codes no problem, but have to wait for my valve operated calculator to warm up. V codes are easier for me as I have the cracker easier to hand.(hopefully still free for the future)

Am I missing something here. I thought the codes were introduced to stop low life's stealing your radio and then either selling it on or installing in their car. Why is it so easy to generate a code for a radio, surely makes them coded; pointless.

AFAIK the Ford coded radios we're dealing with so often on HJ are a thing of the past. Technology has moved on.

The radios in most modern cars come in several parts so not so easy to steal!

When was the last time anyone had a radio stolen? With modern day electronic technology you can steal the whole car in less than a minute!

It's a little bit like the removable button security strip on the front of each Ford radio.

They are all exactly the same!
