Urgent recall notice - hillman

I've received an urgent recall notice for the Subaru. The front passenger side door airbag actuator has deteriorated and needs to be replaced. The car is on the waiting list, estimated time five weeks. I learned from a friendly garage proprietor that the type of actuator is fitted to many cars and that explains the waiting time. Is anybody else involved ?

As far as I'm aware this is a 'Takata' airbag inflator.

Takata is (or possibly 'was') a Japanese firm that supplied airbag inflators to a large number of manufacturers worldwide. Recalls for their inflators have involved ... (and it's a long list, though this list is from the US NHTSA) ...

Acura, Audi, BMW, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Daimler Trucks North America, Daimler Vans USA LLC, Dodge/Ram, Ferrari, Fisker, Ford, GMC, Honda, Infiniti, Jaguar, Jeep, Land Rover, Lexus, Lincoln, Mazda, McLaren, Mercedes-Benz, Mercury, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Pontiac, Saab, Saturn, Scion, Subaru, Tesla, Toyota, and Volkswagen.

Had my 2006 Legacy done about 2 weeks ago, about a week and a half from getting the letter to it being done, takes about half a day as the whole dash has to come out, I left mine for the whole day. There have been reports on the Legacy forum of some peoples cars being damaged, mine was fine but I checked that they had done a few already. not all mechanics are equal. Takata went bust because of this.

It is a 1.5 to 2 hour job on most cars, not a dash out job as such.
