Vauxhall astra elegance 1.6 petrol 03 - Fuel pump and sender unit - bev the novice
There is no fuel getting to the engine so the car won't start please has anyone got any ideas as to what's wrong and how to fix it

Sorry,but my crystal ball is in for a service this week. Get a competant mechanic to take a look. No point in guessing.

How do you know there isn't any fuel getting to the engine? If that is the case, maybe the fuel level is too low, the fuel filter is blocked, the fuel pump or its control circuit not working.

If all the above are alright then it could be a problem with the injector - fairly sure there was a single point injection version of that engine.

Well novice the way to check is get it scanned first.

Assume nothing,

It could be anything,

For instance a faulty crank angle sensor.

I know very little about Vauxhalls but the same thing happened to our Focus, Ford's 'equivalent' model. A failing fuel pump had blown its fuse. Replacing the 15amp fuse with a 20amp one allowed us to proceed till I could get the struggling pump replaced. I guess Vauxhall will have a handbook with a similar 'Fuses' section to identify which fuse you should check.
