So be it, it's time to get a horse and ride in. Imagine millions of Londoners on horses and the pollution would need shovels not catalysts. £12.50 seems very harsh too, how long before other cities follow suit? Days of happy motoring are fast disappearing.

Sounds sensible, air quality in London is poor, therefore discourage the worst polluters from making unnecessary journeys with a pollution charge. Don't you just love the DM, on one hand they get hysterical about 4x4 drivers and school runs contributing to the obesity epidemic then on the other hand start frothing at the mouth over the fact someone has the temerity to tax them. Or maybe it's just because Sadiq isn't quite DM demographic?

There is no legal requirement to clear up after your horse if it produces a steaming pile on the middle of Oxford Street - strange isn't it?

note the expanded size of area covered ... the new border is the A406 / A205!! Also note the inclusion of public service vehicles such as ambulances, fire engines, dust carts, buses and more, I've checked, can't see any mention of police vehicles - surely they should be included?

I assume we can believe the story given that it is in the Daily Wail?

It does make sense though it will hit the poorest hardest, as they have the oldest cars. Perhaps it will curb the enthusiasm for huge vehicles. But to be really effective this has to spread to other cities, and hence influence car makers to do even more to reduce pollution, given that the emission zone regs will no doubt get tighter with time.

My comment on veracity was slightly tongue in cheek, though they do have a habit of writing misleading stories, especially about Muslims. Interesting story though.
