Audi A3 - Would you sell a car through this company? - Jamie Wheat

I'm selling my 64 plate Audi A3 and just want ride as I have gotten a work car and no longer require the vehicle. I don't like the idea of selling to we buy any car because apparently they do not offer a fair price. I have found a local company to me called Sell your car to Jack, does anyone in the Birmingham area have any experience with this company and could give me some more insight? www.sellyourcar2jack.com/

The question is really: is this a legit request or subtle spam? Especially as the website address has been mentioned.

(Edit - it could be spam but it's generated quite a few comments so I'll leave it.)

Seems fair enough - as the OP asked for comments which could be good or bad.

It's easy to find out if they are worth dealing with. They valued my 2012 VW Take Up with 130,000 miiles on the clock, FSH, one owner, at £1300. That is far below the WBAC valuation, for example. And way below other online valuations. I got £1800 for it.

I'd avoid them like the plague.

This is what makes me suspicious (admitedly I am Mr. Glass-half-empty) of the OP's motives for their original post - they may well be legit, but surely, like Leif here, why wouldn't they just get a quote from both this firm and WBAC to at least compare the money offered and then state this on the post.

To me, that would've been a better starting point, especially if this other one had indeed offered a higher valuation than WBAC, rather than relying on other forum members doing as Leif has, and thus effectively giving that other site free publicity. Its a whole world of difference between getting a free quote and actually spending money to buy a car at a dealer.

They seem legit but I'd get a few more quotes from different companies anyway. They almost have 100% approval rating on the web. Unless they are all paid reviews, I'd say it is pretty good but like I said just check a few other places and you will know for sure if they will try and scam you.

Having just sold our Note to Evans Halshaw (who just beat WBAC) I put the details into Jacks site. They were about £150 less than we actually got from Evans Halshaw who knocked about £70 off their on-line price .

So not too bad but how much would they deduct when they viewed the car. Are there any admin fees I wonder?

Yes, WBAC deduct quite large amounts for fairly minor damage such as stone chips on a bumper. The cynic might say their business model is to offer high online, and shave it down as much as possible once the punter arrives.

They say not. But then point out that the price only applies if you deliver the car TO them at one of 2 sites in the UK - both in or near Birmingham.

So if you live any real distance away, you've got to either pay them a fee to get it collected, or drive it there yourself (at your cost), and then pay to get back home again.

Compare that to WBAC, with over 200 locations.from Truro to Inverness !
