Hyundai ix35 2Lt Diesel 2011 - Timing Belt or Tining Chain - richard price

Looking ahead at the service schedule it says that the Timing Belt will need to be changed at 80K miles or 8 years.

My question is, does anybody know if it is a Chain or rubber compound belt.

Thank you.

The 2.0 is a belt and the newer 1.7 a chain. As said in the schedule it’s 8yrs or 80k.

Wrong.

The older 2.0 diesel fitted to the the earlier Tucsons, Sportage, Ceed (plus others no doubt) was a belt but when the new 2.0 CRDi Euro 5 compliant engines were introduced in early 2010 for the ix35 and Sportage (and no doubt others) like all recent Hyundai/Kia engines (inc the 1.7) it was fitted with a chain.
