Suzuki Splash - drive shaft seal leaking - Project C

Hi, posted this in the technical section but thinking about it I'm not sure if it's really a technical enough question - oh well!

Took my wife's splash for the annual service and was advised rear shock absorber requires replacement but also that the o/s drive shaft seal is leaking and requires repair

My wife has a friend with a similar agila and hers had to have a replacement gear box. Wondering if gear box problems are common on the splash and most importantly what the consequences of the drive shaft seal leaking might be, ie, what else should I check with this in mind?

Thanks

If a driveshaft oil seal is leaking, then the gearbox is losing oil, will eventually run dry and subsequently break. This is the worst case scenario.

It depends on if you want to pay for the oil seal replacement. Suffer the oil leak but keep topping up the oil, or ignore it and run the risk?

It's quite technical enough. We don't need two threads on the same subject.
