Ford Fiesta 1.25 zetec 2012 - Slipping Clutch with only 15k - cockneycooky

Hi,

When flooring the throttle at around 2500 rpm in 3rd occasionially the revs increase without acceleration. But the car just passed a stationary stall test, carried out by a garage.

As the car has only done 15k miles i was wondering if there was anything else that could cause this as with only 15k miles the clutch shouldnt be worn out.

I purchased the car with 6k miles from and elderly relative.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Your elderly relative may have ridden the clutch or not treated it well, hence the premature wear.

Lots of problems with clutches a few years back - slave cylinder issue caused clutches to wear out quickly.

That's good news.

Bad news the car is 6 year old with 1 elderly driver - you will not get anywhere trying to get a new clutch.

Get a new slave cylinder + clutch & put it down to the former owner and/ Ford.

Have to say it's highly likely to have been the elderly first owner. I've seen (and heard, and smelt!) some horrendous clutch burning from older drivers.

At over 6 years old, Ford have precisely zero liability to you or anyone else.

I watch some elderly drivers trying to park. 5,000rpm and lots of noise and 1mph.

(I bought an auto to avoid that when I am senile :-)
