Driving through space listening to Bowie,

SpaceX ten launch.. Awesome!

Wish my car could park like that. (landing the boosters)

Daily Telegraph had the funniest cartoon, stuck behind a caravan for the next 200 million miles...

I liked it!

While the schoolboy in me likes rockets and stuff, I think Musk would've been better spending the space money on a better charging infrastructure for his cars, or on an advanced range-extender option (e.g. the Bladon micro gas turbines used in the Jag concept car).

He has a better chance of reaching Mars than sorting that out, he may not be sure electric cars will take off, bearing in mind he is trying with Panasonic to improve the batteries for his cars which I think is the better bet really!

Just a shame they got the trajectory wrong. Broken Sat Nav? Put in the post code incorrectly?

Mainly to divert attention from their continuing production problems with the model 3:

""While there were challenges associated with Model 3 ramp, we were in a deeper level of hell than we expected," Musk said. "Still a few levels deeper than we'd like to be, but swiftly exiting, I think."

Quelle surprise! In my view, he's very much the showman, almost a modern day rich version of PT Barnum, lots of smoke and mirrors.

Its not as though the payload was that much heavier (in total) than the Mars Curiosity rover, which actually got to Mars exactly when and were it was supposed to, then executed a perfect (and very complex) set of manouvres by itself to land on the surface and then start its mission. Chucking a car out into (not-so-deep) space (and not getting the trajectory correct) was easy in comparison. All they've demonstrated is that they've got a bit closer to NASA in terms of what can be achieved - hardly 'ground breaking'.

The mssion was not to hit Mars - rather they needed to avoid it completely. It was an amazing launch, especially at their budget. Good Luck to Elon Musk I'd say - he's pursuing severl of his dreams with some style.

Never said it was, but its still off the trajectory it was supposed to be, and more space junk (at least the previous bits of space junk did something useful first). I agree that he should be commended for the pursuit of his dreams, but he still has some way to go to fulfilling them yet, and his funds aren't limitless (especially as a lot is raised from people other than himself).

Really worth watching The Grand Tour review of the X3.
First time I have seen Clarkson worried about criticising any car.
Looked like he was accompanied by a team from Tesla on the test drive to field any questions.
