Can anyone help with the air gap dimension of ABS sensor to ring on my 2002 VW Sharan 1.9 TD? Replaced sensors on both side, fail light extinguished but brake pedal is pulsing below 10mph on breaking from speed, any other ideas welcome, thanks, Mike.
Hi.
I've no idea of the air gap dimension.
I did have an ABS issue when I had my 2004 Renault Clio. My car would trip the ABS warning light, which disabled the ABS function and the brakes would work normally.
When the car was restarted and driven slowly the ABS light would extinguish, however when braking at a low speed the ABS would kick in and the pedal would pump (I wasn't braking hard enough to lock the wheels). Driving faster would activate the ABS warning light again and would deactivate the ABS function.
There wasn't a fault with the ABS sensors on my car. The problem was a split reluctor ring (this is the gear wheel pressed on to the end of the drive shaft, which the sensor reads). I found it was split when I was trying to remove the flaking rust from the reluctor ring with a screwdriver and found it was loose.
This may or may not be of help. I thought I'd post of my experience in case it helped. I also know of a friends 2006 Mondeo which had exactly the same symptoms and fault as above.
