We collected it last night, was being sold over near Conwy, about 30 miles from us.
My wife drove it back, once she'd gotten used to it not having that low-down diesel torque (she stalled it twice in the first 100 yards), she found it quite nippy.
From being on here I've seen various concerns about the 1.0 petrol engine, and the sis-in-law only does about 6k miles per annum, so the diesel was out of the question. Same for the MMT autobox.
We'd looked at a couple of Corsa's. She's been very happy with her old one, and has had it 9 years. It's a 51 plate, but had now really started to reach the end of life - rust and electrical niggles mainly, the engine and gearbox feel as strong as ever. But the ones we looked at, even getting out some distance, were either terribly maintained, in shoddy condition, overpriced, or (amazingly) a combination of all 3.
The Fiesta was another possible - avoiding the ecoboost, and going for something like the 1.25. But, again, there was very little on the market that was reasonable for the money.
So many cars initially appeared decent, but digging into the MOT history brought up a litany of failures from surprisingly low ages and mileages. I'm a bit of a believer in looking after a car properly, and if a car fails the MOT on 4 bald tyres, I'm pretty convinced that the owner doesn't look under the bonnet ever, either.
Anyway, I'll update as it goes on. Hopefully it'll do her for a decade or so !
