FORD MONDEO 1.8 2005 HATCHBACK - 2005 MONDEO 1.8 DISABLE ALARM HOOTER - greybeard

Alarm goes off randomly when unlocking car, I've had lots of advice and failed to cure it. I've now had enough, and out of respect for my neighbours I wish to silence the alarm. It appears to be behind the trim in the lefthand luggage area. Can I simply disconnect it? Or should I wire in its place a 12v bulb of similar wattage so that the system "thinks" the horn is still there? Or am I in danger of really messing things up?

Any advice gratefully received!

Simple fix,just disconnect the alarm horn.no further problem .

Success! Many thanks, "elekie". Easy job, peace reigns, grateful neighbours. The reason why I was a bit wary of simple disconnection was that I'd read somewhere that some systems have an anti-tampering device which shuts everything down if you interfere with the wiring.
