Renault megane 1.5 dci - EGR valve / fuel filter - Glenn scott

Renault megane 1.5 dci 05 loss of power not all of the time just when I put my foot down with a little acceleration, over taking! Or up hill. Have seen a lot about changing or cleaning the EGR and I'm also planning on changing the fuel air and oil filter. Do you think this will help at all? And also doing it myself would this be easy to change the EGR ? Thank you

Try cleaning the maf sensor before doing an EGR. It's a much easier job and could be route of your problem

If the EGR valve is covered in thick deposits then so will be the whole air intake downstream of it. Removing the inlet manifold and giving it a thorough clean out is the only way to do it. Restricted air intake means lower air flow, and loss of performance. The MAF and MAP output signals will also be affected if airflow is restricted.

All modern diesels suffer this way, and the fewer miles you do and the cooler the engine runs the more quickly it will clog up.

That sounds like it could be a mixture of both and exactly that. Loosing power every so often when put under a little pressure but very slowly getting worse. Going to give them both ago this weekend!

Perfect. Will have a research on how it's done to ensure I do it correctly. I think I will do both got a bit of time off work so will need doing at some point. Never buying a Renault again, nearly 2000 in 6 months!
