It shouldn't last that long, no, 20 minutes at most.

I suggest you get it in to a garage to be looked at.

A DPF cycle should last only a few minutes and there should be no noticeable extra exhaust smoke. A smell or a change in engine speed is often noticed though. Is there any blue smoke on start up? Has the vehicle got a full service history (every year not every second) and how many miles has it covered?

When did you buy it. As someone else has already asked, does it have full service history.

bought in november with service history the garage has had it back now three times the first time they said they dropped a rag on th exhaust ,second time it was were they put underseal on and some got on the exhaust ,it is currently at the garage now and after speaking to them ,they are saying its the dpf filter cleaning itselfbut it just seems to be going on to long with the burrning smell

Be unusual for turbo seals or the likes to go on an L200 of that mileage. I'm assuming you've done an Mot check to validate that mileage? Was it a Mitsubishi dealer who sold it to you?
