Honda CR-V - honda cr-v air bag inflator recall - heartattakjoe

HI all,

I just recieved in the post a letter to say my 2005 honda cr-v is being recalled for a fault with the air bag inflator. i dont know if this is old news or not, the letter states honda is recalled affected models from 2004-2012 as a safety precaution. I am based in germany so i do not know if that would also affect UK cars.

just thought i would post as a heads up

Certain cars are being recalled due to a manufacturing problem with the airbag, my daughters Jazz(2015) has a recall but not been done yet, (unless it was done on last service)

aparently they send a letter when they have them in stock- which is short of supply. at least thats what we were told

This relates to the Takata airbag issue that's been ongoing globally for years. blog.caranddriver.com/massive-takata-airbag-recall.../

Do you think my 2003 model would be eligible for a recall? Not FHSH

Age and service history are irrelevant on a safety recall. Honda will contact every registered keeper of cars involved.

We had our letter nearly a year ago and they still don't have stock of relevant parts as of 2 weeks ago

Another clsssic example of the men-in-suits syndrome. No rational individual would issue a notice telling owners to get a part replaced without ensuring that said part was in stock. But get people together round a table and common sense goes out of the window.

List of vehicles affected and amount needed to be replaced I gather is far more than can be manufactured, last note I saw was Takarta are having to use other manufacturers to make them to try and catch up

something like a million a month all in, so replacements may take years to do, not seen latest production time/volume maybe someone else may know?. bit surprised this hasnt bankrupted the makers
