Yes we could do with downsizing the population by about 10 million, rather than still increasing it on a daily weekly monthly annual figure and still blaming 'greedy' buy to let landlords for the housing problem.
The problem with increasing parking space sizes is that it's pandering to those who can't drive for toffee but still insist on buying huge cars they are terrified of and can't possibly park to save theiur lives.
I can't be the opnly one whtoo often sits waiting interminably in sheer disbelief at the incompetence of so many people who presumably have driving licences whilst they attempt to drive Titanic forward into a space too small in one shunt, it beggars belief sometimes.
When we go to the supermarket together, not often, you find people who manage to take up the room of 4 people plus trolleys with just themselves and their one trolley whilst they make the world changing decision of 4 litres of semi skimmed or 6, my wife can often be heard muttering ''just imagine them behind a steering wheel'' before she unceremoniously moves their trolley for them.
I quite agree cars are too big now, quite why when there no more room in a new Focus than there was in a Mk3 Escort is a mystery, i prefer long and thin to wide if you'll pardon the expression.
