Young neighbour scratched my car while parking bumper has one deep and several smaller scratches. Mygarage said paint should be stripped off half bumper then new paint applied, cost 300 pounds. Neighbour has found garage offering to repair for 140 pounds. Can you advise -is it advisable to strip all paint off and if so should that cost 300 pounds? Thank you

Find a "smart" repairer - £300 is over-priced.

Yes £300 is footballer's Bentley money.

Its possible you will be without a courtesy car from the fairly priced bodyshop (assuming this is a tame bodyshop for people wihtout footballers wallets, and not some bloke he knows from the pub with a rattle can) for a couple of days whilst its done, hope the yong neighbour is going to help you out with a lift back from the workshop, any errands that need doing in between, a lift back to the workshop to collect the car when done, and pay the bill!

Thanks Yes getting to and from smart garage is a problem - 14 miles away. Neighbour (or rather get dad) suggests he drives my car there to get work done. Now surely I would be mad to agree to that? They are completely honest seedling people and in fact they could well afford the footballer's Bentley money , but still wouldn't feel happy giving him my little car.

Thanks That is what my neighbour has found. I hadn't heard of smart repair. Does it really do a perfect job and leave no visible mark ? Does it it definitely cover the scratch completely so no danger of rust?

I am worried about risking more damage to my car from that, just to save my neighbour £160 .

Rust? Isn't the bumper plastic?!

Well it is the metal part at the front on the right side above and below level of the headlught that is scratched.
