There was a reference in Saturdays column of a new car jumping out of reverse.
It reminded me of a problem with a Morris 1100 some years ago.
We had just bought the car and my wife took it to go shopping. When she returned she was quite distressed as she had great trouble reversing it our of a parking space. It kept jumping out of reverse. I tried it and it worked perfectly no jumping out at all. So she got back in and demonstrated, and sure enough it jumped out of gear.
The problem was she sat with the seat further forward, and bringing the gear stick into reverse, pushed in the foam of the seat, needless to say the foam pushed back and the gear stick kept jumping into Neutral.
