xc90 - best lights I've ever used. - barney100

Got a Volvo xc90 as a courtesy car, first time out in the dark and it's awesome. Lights follow where you are steering and when you get the headlights on its like daylight... I heard these cars dipped beams adjust automatically to avoid annoying oncoming cars but not sure.

Probably fitted with adaptive Led lighting system .Hopefully you won't be paying the bill when they go wrong.With these new lights,it looks like the complete lamp will need to be replaced,as there is no repair procedure.

Yes, as there is no such thing as a standard headlight Led bulb or even headlamp design, every car model/make will be a unique design, leaving the punter no choice but pay anything up to £1000 to fix a broken headlight.

You should try being at the other end, they blind because they are so intense, and if wet you get reflections from everywhere, so they are good from drivers perspective but not coming the other way

The effect on approaching vehicles is one I know well. This Volvo is a hire car but my everyday car is a little sports job and so very low on the road, it can be blinding to get theses super bright jobs in your eyeline. Not too bad in well lit areas but country roads are another story. Seems being higher up from the raod has benefits at night.

Just checked, apparently the headlights are controlled by a camera which shuts off some of the glare to approaching vehicles. Interestingly USA drivers are not allowed this feature.
