Grom Audio - 3.5mm and Android connectivity - Warning

My car is older type and does not have a 3.5mm jack, so there is no way for me to listen to stream music from my phone onto the car speakers. or hook a DAB radio. (I have used Pure Highway, but a mess of wires).

My radio is a factory fitted radio console and is part of the car's heating system.

Just wondering if anyone has used a product from Grom. They only sell the products, but I have to find someone to fit it, so I am concerned about that, as I don't want to damage the car.

They say "GROM Car Kits integrate Android® devices, portable music players, iPod®, iPhone®, USB mass storage, Bluetooth® to factory car audio systems. Designed to install with ease, made for self-installation."

I rang them up and they said they have a DAB module in development, which should be out soon, once they have tested it.

The kit connects to the car's audio and fools it into thinking it is a CD changer. So when using via Android, you can use the 'track forward and back button' on the radio console.

The 3.5mm jack offers no forward / backward control.

Just wondering if someone has used Grom products on their car or can recommend an audio dealer, which can fit for me in South East.

Is the car stereo a radio cassette? If so you can buy adaptors that take the input into the cassette heads using a dummy cassette with a lead and 3.5 plug. I used one in my van and it was okay.

How much does a Grom cost and how does it connect to the existing equipment?

Are you sure you can't fit an aftermarket radio? £100 or so gets you a respectable unit with aux, usb, bluetooth etc.
