Very occasionally when braking, the pedal would go down to the floor with no braking. If the pedal was released and pressed again the brakes were OK. Although this only happened at very low speeds, I had the brakes bled, then a new master cylinder fitted. The problem has since ( a month later ) occured again. This isn't too concerning when stopping at a junction but it does worry me when on the motorway!

Any ideas anyone?

Have you checked/tested the servo?

Have you checked/tested the servo?

Servo would only make the pedal go hard not allow it to go to the floor, I suggest getting the master cylinder rechecked, nothing to say its not faulty and as a precaution have the wheel cylinders checked and calipers

If the rear has drum brakes, check that the self adjusters are working, if not you sometimes have to pump to get a solid pedal.

Servos failing usually cause hard pedal but the can also fail by "being on all the time".

Vacuum can be fully on drawing the internals down so giving a pedal to the floor situation.

My suggestion is to test a no strip no cost test to rule out or in what it may be.

Thanks to all of you for that, I'll let the garage know and if you have any more ideas please let me know!

My 306 brake pedal went straight to the floor because the rubber vaccum seal in the servo failed.
