After watching the video in the following article, I wonder if his insurance claim could be rejected for doing something so stupid?

I'd be wondering about the person's fitness to hold a driving licence too !

In terms of an insurance claim I can't see much differnce between deliberately driving into a flood or choosing to set fire to your car. Neither is an accident. Neither should be claimable.

Don't suppose in the grand scheme of things paying out for an idiot like that makes a world of difference, mind you i'd reject the claim out of hand for the short time i would be employed a loss adjuster (should any insurer be daft enough to give a job) and recommend to ban that customer permanently.

Oops. I was in London yesterday and watched the storm from the National Gallery steps. Rain wasn't too heavy but it was evident south of the river was being hit hard. Seeing aircraft still approaching Heathrow was disconcerting.

Taxi driver - no more needs to be said. I have never seen one who drives sensibly. Too fast or too slow. The shortest slowest way rather than the faster way which is a bit longer. Never giving way, pushing into gaps that don't exist. Bah Humbug....serves him right.

I wouldn't risk flood water over about 6" so I'd not have driven through. I think what's caught the first driver out is that the pavement railings and feature line in the walling are horizontal and might suggest it's "only" a foot or so deep. Still way too deep for me. But what was the second driver in the still picture thinking of, didn't the stranded first car give him a clue?

Some local councils make applicants for a taxi licence take the official taxi driving test - some don't- Why?

I'd love to hear the calls he's going to make to a) his boss, and b) their car insurer.

I suspect his next call will be to set up an appointment at his local Job Centre Plus.

I'll be generous - maybe he forgot to press 'turbo boost' to jump over the water hazard, or at least forgot he wasn't in the converted Pontiac TransAm he drives on weekends (he was in a black car) when off the clock.

:-)

If I had to drive a Zafira, I'd drive it on to a flood as well. Or a tree, or a wall, or a traction engine.

I'm amazed at Backroomers restraint regading the Zafiras penchant for self-combusting. Perhaps that's just me...

Don't you understand... He was putting the fire in the glovebox out!
